Homelessness impacts thousands of adults and families with children in Washington. Every year the Washington State Legislature sets aside funding for Commerce to distribute in support of homeless crisis response systems. The State Grants Team works with local governments and nonprofits to combine this funding with evidence-based best practices in order to efficiently reduce the number of people living outside.
Our guiding principles:
- We will partner with people with lived experience of homelessness to identify person-centered strategies that promote long-term stability.
- We will take urgent and bold action to reduce homelessness.
- We will support interventions that take into account individual need, community context, and best practices.
