In 2018, the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy created two documents to assist communities with accessing nurses who serve sexual assault victims.
Documents
- The Sexual Assault Response Best Practices document (PDF) proposes best practices that local communities may use to create more access to sexual assault nurse examiners and quality sexual assault responses for adult, adolescent and pediatric victims. These best practices are informed by statewide interviews, surveys and national literature reviews. Local communities are encouraged to adopt, tailor and add to them as appropriate for their community and based on available resources.
- The Forensic Nurse Examiner Response Team Best Practices document (PDF) offers best practices that local communities may use for creating, maintaining and sustaining a Forensic Nurse Examiner Response Team (FNERT) for nonfatal strangulation assault cases.
