All 39 of Washington’s counties have local sources of funding dedicated to providing homeless housing and assistance services. The counties have organized themselves into 37 single or multi-county crisis response systems. Five of the state’s biggest counties receive additional direct federal funding through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The other 34 work with Commerce to submit collaborative applications for HUD funding.
