The Landlord Mitigation Program launched in 2018 originally offering damage relief to landlords that provide housing to tenants that are receiving rental assistance. Over the life of the program several subprograms were available providing additional relief for landlords during the eviction moratorium, for survivors fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, harassment and stalking and preservation of tenancy for tenants facing eviction for non-payment of rent. Regular funding is provided from document recording fees collected from real estate transactions throughout the State and annual legislative appropriations.
