The Washington State Department of Commerce, hereafter called “COMMERCE,” is initiating this Request for Applications (RFA) to solicit proposals from those qualified and interested in grant funding for projects that demonstrated high-wage, clean job creation in Washington, provide risk reduction for investments in public and private infrastructure in order to increase a community’s capacity for clean manufacturing, or provide investments in workforce development to attract and train the workforce required to grow the clean energy economy.
These are the areas of interest that projects need to be focused in:
- Mitigate and reverse the effects of climate change
- Help communities meet their energy and climate change regulatory requirements
- Bring increased federal and private investment to the state
- Help develop the advanced workforce of the future
- Ensure Washington State maintains or grows its position as a world leader in developing the projects and processes that are used to fight climate change globally
Eligible activities under this section include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and predevelopment
- Design and engineering
- Construction of clean technology projects
It would be preferred to see projects that include multiple objectives.
This is an open, continuous application until all funding has been obligated. With the current amendment, Commerce will begin reviewing applications as of February 17, 2025.
